Chryssa was born in Thessaloniki, Greece in 1971. Her first contact with photography began in 1992 when she followed a yearlong program of seminars with the Greek Interior Ministry educational program. In 1998 she graduated from the department of photography at the Photographic Workshop of Thessaloniki, Greece. In 1999 she worked for one year in commercial photography in Athens, Greece and from 2000 to 2005 she lived and worked as freelance photographer in Jerusalem, covering topics in the West Bank, Gaza and Israel.
